Learn from an experienced naturalist how to start identifying birds of the Navesink on your own, about great spots in the region for birding (including what you can expect to find), and what makes a location a great area for bird activity.

This multimedia presentation will get you excited to look in your neighborhood, local park or backyard for our area’s exceptional range of migratory and year-round birds.

Lindsay will also draw on her experience supporting bird banding research to share insights into how concerned community members are using science to learn about, monitor, and protect birds.

      About Lindsay

Lindsay McNamara has been birding since she was nine years old when she saw her first Great Blue Heron along the Raritan River.

She has led bird walks since 2018 for groups like American Littoral Society, Bergen County Audubon Society, National Audubon Society, New Jersey Audubon Society, NJ Emerging Conservation Professionals, Raritan Headwaters Association, and Raven Crest Botanicals in New Jersey, New York, and Virginia.

Lindsay has also taught virtual birding classes and has recently stepped out on her own to create Beachy Birder Adventures LLC. She is a Certified Access Birding Outing Leader, Reiki Level 1 certified, a member of the Mindful Birding Network and Birdability’s Captains Conservation Corps. Lindsay is always looking to engage new birders in her lifelong passion and her favorite bird is the one she’s looking at!
