Dogfish

While dogfish is commonly caught with Belford Seafood boats often as by-catch in bottom trawls for fluke or other bottom dwelling fish, it is not commonly sold as a food fish in monmouth county. However, dogfish is eaten in Europe and smoked dogfish is a German delicacy and by-catch dogfish is sold to be smoked for markets outside Monmouth county. At present, New Jersey has very significant catch restrictions on dogfish.
