Clams(soft)

pisser clams, steamers

Soft clams have a different appearance than hard clams. Their shells are thinner and they have a neck which functions as a siphon or snorkel when the clam has buried itself in the sand or silt. Soft clams are often available as steamers. Contrary to hard clams, certain portions (*sheath of the neck) of the soft clam are not commonly eaten. Preparing soft clams as steamers is easy.
