PUBLIC PRESENTATION: New York Harbor Pilotage

Captain Chris Begley holds a USCG Master's License of Unlimited Tonnage Upon Oceans (a big deal!) and is a federally Licensed Pilot for NY, NJ, VA, and AK. For 30 years he was in the US Naval Reserve, retiring as a Captain. His current duties include dispatching pilots and pilot boat crew for Interport Pilots Agency Inc, the only Pilot group based in New Jersey.

He will explain pilotage and what it takes to navigate very large ships into nation's third largest seaport.

New York Harbor is one of the largest natural harbors in the world and provides access to the ports of New Jersey and New York. Ever larger ships are entering and leaving the ports and harbor facilities and harbor pilots are continually adapting to new circumstances.

7:30pm: Coffee and Cookies.

8:00pm: Presentation and Q&A. 9:00pm Close.

This is a FREE public event
