Wooden Boat Building Techniques

Describing our variations on the Six Hour Canoe

Rip settings for stems

To build this canoe on your own, the book, “Building the Six-Hour Canoe”, Bartoo, Butz, and Montague, Tiller Publishing, is a must. We provide this book to each team in our Wooden Boat Festival. But over several gigs we have learned techniques, and introduced variations over the construction steps outlined in that book. These are not yet all documented, but our plan is to put them all here, one page per new technique.

This is not a substitute for the book itself. It is a supplement. The techniques may or may not work for your particular setting, and goals. Look them over…
