MARINE ART EXHIBITION at the Historic Twin Lights Lighthouse

GUNS BLAZING! The War of 1812 and the New Jersey Shore

From now through November 22nd, 2019

The War of 1812 pitted the nascent US Navy against the might of the British Royal Navy.

A series of epic naval battles are exquisitely depicted in a series of fifteen very detailed marine paintings by the renowned maritime artist Maarten Platje.

This exhibition is the product of an initiative by Rik van Hemmen of  NMHA who is partnering with Cavalier Galleries of New York and the Twin Lights Historical Society to bring this exhibition to the Public at the Jersey Shore.

The paintings can be viewed in two galleries at Twin Lights Lighthouse through November 22nd. Entrance is free.

Opening hours at Twin Lights and for the art exhibition are Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

There is a 100-page Exhibition Guide describing the paintings with essays on various aspects of the war and of Monmouth County at that time. It is available for purchase at the Museum Store for $24.95.

In addition, this show was made possible by these donors: Seastreak Ferries, Bahrs Landing Restaurant, Randive Divers, the Society of Marine Port Engineers, and Martin & Ottaway.
