JULY 30: FREE SAIL ON A SAILING GARVEY!

New sail date from New Jersey Friends of Clearwater and Navesink Maritime Heritage Association!

The first six people from the July 10th list who register and show up will get a short sail lasting from 30-60 minutes depending upon the wind and the weather! There are two other July dates if this sail date is full!

Note the changed location - Oyster Point Hotel marina.

Be prepared for clothes to get a bit wet.

Wear sensible shoes.

Be mindful of swinging sails and lots of ropes!

Be aware that poor weather can cause last-minute cancellation.

Please REGISTER so the skipper and crew know how many are coming. Those that have registered will have priority over those who have not.

NOTE: If poor weather causes cancellation you will have to re-register for another day.

In the 19th century garveys similar to this one navigated up shallow creeks off the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers to farms and workshops and brought produce, goods, and oysters to Marine Park. These cargoes were then transferred to sailing schooners bound for the hungry masses of New York City! So imagine you are a hardworking waterman/woman taking goods to Red Bank!
